Views on Africa

In the following articles, I attempt to summarize my opinions on some African issues.

1. Why is Africa important?
2. Africa has many riches, both material and human.
3. Perhaps Africa's greatest riches are its values. I have tried to express some of them.
4. Despite its riches, Africa has many problems that are often worse than elsewhere in the world.
5. These problems have both natural and human causes:
• The African environment is often a harsh place to live and work.
• Often foreigners have made and continue to make the lives of Africans worse instead of better.
• The United States deserves criticism for worsening problems in many African countries.
• Africans themselves are also responsible for their conditions.
6. US and other non-African governments and agencies should improve their policies toward Africa.
