Don Vogl taught painting at the University of Notre Dame for 31 years. Mr. Vogl's art is on display in permanent collections at Notre Dame's Snite Museum of Art, Indianapolis Museum, Midwest Museum of American Art-Elkhart, Haggerty Museum of Marquette University Milwaukee, Brauer Museum at Valparaiso University, Blank Center for the Arts in Michigan City, and South Bend Regional Museum of Art. He's listed in Who's Who in American Art 1988-99. "I hope to capture energy and verve through improvising. I like a freshly done, effortless quality; bright, open, buoyant, free, light, air-bound; not heavy or ponderous. My training in abstract expressionism referred to spiritual concerns. I want to allow for my subconscious to be part of the whole process. The birds and animals are metaphors for flight, escape and vulnerability. For many works, shaping takes place from the outset and I try to finish with the same amount of directness. " - Donald G. Vogl My complete curriculum vitae is available in these formats: |
